iPhone – IOS 11.0.3

Today I’m talking  about IOS 11.0.3 for the iPhone.  After asking around, I discovered there are people who did not know about some of the new features in this version. I have listed below 5 of them that I think you will find useful.

  1. You are now able to draw on your screenshots

When you take a screen shot, a thumbnail of your photo will appear on the lower left side. If you click on the thumbnail, you will get an page where you can edit using different tools(pencil, pen, marker, eraser) This will enable you to write notes, circle items, write your signature and use different colors.

  2. There is now a one-handed keyboard

To display this mini keyboard which for when you want to use one hand to type,  press down on the globe keyboard button. You can choose regular  keyboard or mini keyboard for the right or left side of the screen display. Now you won’t have to stretch your thumb across the whole screen when you type with one hand.

  3. Type to Siri

There are times when you just don’t want to talk to Siri .  Now you can type your questions. Go to Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Siri -> Type to Siri. Now when you prompt Siri the keyboard will appear and you can type away!

  4.  Control Center is now on a single page

The control center has a much nicer streamlined look on one page and it is customizable now too.  To do this – Go to Settings -> Control Center -> Customize Controls. You can add shortcuts to the control center such as alarm, low power mode, text size and do not disturb while driving. You will see the rest of the shortcuts when you go to customize controls.

  5. There’s a New Dark Mode Option

To set this option go to:  Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Display Accommodations -> Invert Colors.  The new option is Smart Invert. This reverses colors of the display except for certain types that use dark color styles. Classic Invert reverses all the colors no matter what the type.
